Saxon MINT schools honored
Award for MINT-friendly schools in Saxony
On 2 September 2025, Minister of State Conrad Clemens - represented by State Secretary Kühner - honoured 37 Saxon schools in Dresden for their outstanding commitment to mathematics, IT, natural sciences, technology (STEM) and digitalization. 23 schools were honored as "STEM-friendly schools" and 14 schools as "digital schools". Among the schools honored is the Semper-Oberschule, a cooperation school of the TUD.
As a regional partner of the education initiative "MINT Zukunft schaffen!", TU Dresden was actively involved in honoring the schools at HTW Dresden. At the education market, which took place as part of the award ceremony, TU Dresden was able to inform numerous interested STEM teachers and school administrators about offers for schools and, together with the Faculties of Mechanical Science and Engineering , present exciting project days and laboratory explorations at TUD for pupils.
Cooperation with STEM-friendly and digital schools
TU Dresden has been cooperating with "MINT Zukunft schaffen!" for many years via the school contact point and supports the award-winning STEM-friendly and digital schools with numerous event formats to get to know TU Dresden and the STEM degree programs. Graduates of the STEM-friendly and digital schools can also apply for the TU Dresden STEM scholarship .
The national initiative "Creating a STEM future!"
The national initiative "MINT Zukunft schaffen!" is committed to strengthening STEM education. The aim is to get more young people interested in STEM professions and to promote STEM skills in society. Together with partners, the initiative presents the "STEM-friendly school" and "digital school" awards. In 2025, 3,000 schools in Germany will carry a valid signet.
